Maybelline has bought up the most affordable contouring products to India. We hardly have any contour and highlighting products, other than the bronzing powders. This Maybelline V-Face range is actually most popular range among the Asian countries. And now it comes to India. I got the shade Light Medium, inspite of placing an order for the darker shade one. This has happened to quite few other bloggers too. The shades in this duo are lighter on my skin(you’ll notice them in my swatches).
HOW TO USE:
- Use the darker shade for sculpting/contouring to bring out that chiseled look.
- Use the lighter shade for highlighting under the eyes.
- Or mix the two shades and apply to the whole face just like a pressed powder.
PACKAGING: The Maybelline V-Face Duo powder comes in a transparent outer packing with all the details and description about the product on it. Inside is the actual product- Duo Powder. The Duo Powder comes in a round glossy black compact case. The packing is very travel friendly, it fits easily in any handbag or travel case perfectly.
As the name says it, it is a dual shaded powder. We have two compartments in this – on opening the case we have the duo powder, and on flipping up the powder pan up, below we have the small brush applicator and a full sized mirror. This packing reminded me of the Loreal Mat Magique pressed powder, which has the exact same packaging. Now this kind of packing is not the one people look forward. Even though it doesn’t matter to some, but it is such a hassle to take the brush from below, flip down and pick up the powder and again flip up for looking into the mirror for application.
FORMULA/ TEXTURE: The powders are completely matte powders. They are very light weight in formula wise and they are very powdery in texture.
HOW DO I USE: The lighter shade works good for highlighting my under eyes well. Whereas the darker shade, when used individually, doesn’t show up much on my skin. So I pair it up with the Duo Stick. The cream stick is well pigmented to sculpt my face and then i top it up with the darker shade from the Duo powder. The brush applicator included with this duo is kind of soft. (Thank god! it’s just not like the one as the FitMe blush brush which is just like a broomstick.) Another way I like to use, since this is lighter on my skin, is I swirl my powder brush all around through both the shades and apply it as a pressed powder. It works better this way.
The powders last for a good 5-6 hours on my combination skin. When used along with the Duo stick, these stay even longer. The Duo powder doesn’t have any strong over-powering fragrances. It has a very mild powdery fragrance which subsides in just few minutes after application and which doesn’t bother much too.
Overall, a fantastic product by Maybelline, but this particular product did not impress me out of the three newly launched ones. I am quite disappointed with this duo powder. I am glad that Maybelline has come up with contouring products, but I wish they make shades according to different skin tones too. I would recommend this for light-medium skinned girls. If you are a makeup junkie and would love to try new makeup stuff, you can definitely get this. The only best part about this that it is super affordable.
