So Lakme has launched a new product recently. It is their 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color. They came up with 10 shades in this range and I bought 3 of them. I did not find them yet in my beauty stores, so I got them from Nykaa.com website. Lets see how this baby performs.
Say ‘No’ to touch ups with this perfect for office wear, LAKME 9 TO 5 WEIGHTLESS MATTE MOUSSE LIP AND CHEEK COLOR. Lakme’s first lip and cheek color comes in a mousse texture that’s weightless, giving a powdery matte finish to lips and a soft blush to your cheeks. Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Mousse Matte Lip and Cheer Color is ideal for daily office wear adding charm and lasting long. Its dual benefit makes it a high functional product for the busy and on the go working woman. It looks and feels weightless because of the lightweight formula. Since it’s a mousse texture, it absorbs well, giving an intense color that long-lasting. The applicator brush glides on seamlessly making it easy to apply and giving a smooth and even finish. There are 10 vibrant shades designed especially for both lips and cheeks.

PACKAGING: These Matte mousse lip and cheek colors come in a rose gold packing. Nothing fancy about the packaging except for the rose gold metallic cap. The tube is a nude colored, kind of looks like a concealer in the first look. The tube isn’t color coded, so for the shade name we need to obviously look out at the bottom of the tube. The lip mousse comes with a tear-drop doe foot applicator, which makes it easy to draw the precise lines on the edges of the lips too.
The Lip and Cheek color has a smooth, velvety mousse texture to it. The texture of the lip color reminded me of the NYX soft matte lip cream and also the Miss Claire soft matte lip cream ones. It is very light weight on the lips. Feels as if there’s nothing on the lips. They are very light and comfortable to wear on the lips. As a blush, it blends into the skin(as a blush) like a dream. These are highly pigmented and the color applies opaque in just one stroke.
Since these are lip creams, they set to a semi-powdery-matte finish. Out of the three shades i bought, one of the shade- Pink PLush shade doesn’t work for me at all as a lip cream. As a blush, every shade do wear so beautifully. It takes about 1-2 minutes to set to a matte finish on the lips. As told earlier, few of the lighter shades go on streaky and patchy on the lips. Exfoliating lips and a strict prep is a must for these lip colors.
Coming to the staying power, girl these have very poor longevity. They stay on for 4-5 hours max on my lips without any snacking, and about 6+ hours as a blush. These do transfer on to things. And once after a meal, there will be just a lip line around the lips, since it’s a powdery matte one and then the drill follows- reapply again.
Here are the swatches in different lights and the lip swatches.
Here’s how FUCHSIA SUEDE looks –
And here’s PLUM FEATHER –
I tried really hard to get the pics of the other shade, PINK PLUSH. But omg no matter how many different ways I tried, that shade is not at all working on my lips. It comes out streaky . I have pigmented lips, and on my lips it’s a total no no. But the rest two shades are so good.
A really useful tip is to blot your lips after the lip color sets to turn it to complete matte and in that way it transfers less on to things too. I tried it and it kind of worked for me.
Overall, I feel the concept behind this Weightless Matte MOusse Lip and Cheek Color is very impressive, as it is multi tasking product. But somehow it did not kind of work at its best. The formula could have been a bit more better. And also they could have come up with more mauvey/darker shades for the deeper skin toned girls.
