Maybelline is one favorite brand of everyone who continuously surprises us with amazing new launches almost every week(or every now and then). Maybelline has recently launched the POWDER MATTE LIPSTICKS from their COLOR SENSATIONAL range. This launch was totally unexpected from them after the Creamy Matte Lipsticks. And I’m so glad that just after a few weeks/months of the launch of any new product globally, we(Indians) are atleast getting access to few of them. I was browsing on Nykaa about the new arrivals from Maybelline and that’s when I found these Powder Matte Lipsticks. And here I am reviewing these.

There are about 12 shades available in this Powder Matte lipsticks. I chose the shades CHERRY CHIC and PLUM PERFECTION, both of which fall under the red family.
These lipsticks come in a very regular Maybelline packaging, matte reddish cap and a silver body. The plastic wrap infact has all good fancy things going on. I wish the same was on the actual lipstick. The shade names are mentioned on the bottom of the lipstick.
These lipsticks have kept up their word in naming them. They are truly powdery matte in texture and formula. The lipsticks glide on smoothly like butter without any tugging and sets to a dry matte finish. Although being powdery matte lipsticks, they do not dry out the lips, rather they have moisturizing effect to it. But prep and exfoliating of lips beforehand is necessary to avoid chapping further. Otherwise, these lipsticks accentuate the chappiness and dead skin on the lips or even the fine lines.
Talking about the pigmentation, I would say these are medium opaque. In the first swipe they just give medium coverage. So people with darker lips, like me, have to keep layering the lipstick. Layering the lipstick can be an option, but even though after layering twice it did not give fully opaque shade. These lipsticks aren’t transfer-proof, although they don’t budge and stay intact in place. They do transfer on to cups and glasses and do fade out from the center of the lips when snacking on. On my lips, these Maybelline Powder Matte lipsticks stayed on for max 4-5 hours.
Overall, when expected more from Maybelline, I really get disappointed(only with the pigmentation issue though) with them. This is one such experience. The velvety smooth texture and formula of these lipsticks is great but had they been fully opaque in pigmentation, they would have topped the list.
