The craving was real! When Maybelline New York introduced the SuperStay Matte Ink Lipsticks, everyone went crazy over them, and I did watch few beauty gurus top rate them. And the excitement doubled up, as this entire range of SuperStay Matte Ink Lipsticks from Maybelline New York is now available in India. Without any second thought I just grabbed few of the shades. In this post, I’ll let you know about my thoughts on these Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink lipsticks.

SHADES : Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink comes in 10 super-saturated shades, being the first release by Maybelline. I bought 3 of the available shades – 15 LOVER, 35 CREATOR and 40 BELIEVER.
How To Use The Product –
- Step 1 – Apply liquid lipstick in the center of your upper lip and follow the contours of your mouth.
- Step 2 – Glide the liquid lipstick across the entire bottom lip.
PACKAGING : Thumbs up to the packaging, I love the color coded tubes. The Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink comes in their respective shade coded tubes with a white cap. They have a droplet/leaf shaped doe-foot applicator which picks up right amount of lip product everytime and also the sharp edge reaches out every corner of the the lips giving a professional finish. And we do have the shade name mentioned on a tiny sticker at the bottom. For people who buy 2-3 shades, shade names wouldn’t be a problem, but if there’s someone who owns all the shades, then it would be difficult in identifying and remembering the shades.
- LOVER – is a dusty rose shade, which suits all fair-tan skin tones, whereas it looks very nude on deeper skin tones.
- CREATOR – is a bright purple shade, which complements every skin tone, and is a must try shade for those who love to play with bold shades.
- BELIEVER – is a deep dark plumy shade, suits all skin tones, especially a perfect shade for the winters.
TEXTURE, PERFORMANCE & LASTING POWER : The lipstick has a thin liquid consistency and spreads evenly on the lips. They glide on like a velvet smooth butter, giving great pigmentation. But hello! this lipstick takes the longest time to dry/set. Or maybe I should say, this lipstick never cared to dry, we need to smack the lips to activate it to dry up. And when smacked, the worst part comes – tackiness. The worst thing to happen with a lipstick that you’re falling in love with. And the tackiness recedes quite a bit, but not completely as the day goes on.
Lover and Creator shades had very good pigmentation, and went on smooth without any hassle. Believer is one shade that went patchy, and has uneven application. I mean what’s wrong with all the dark shades in this world? Believer is such a gorgeous shade. I wanted it to work so badly. The best part of these lipsticks is their longevity, OMG they just stay intact, no smudging, no feathering, no fading, not even the lipstick from the inner rim of the lips come off. Such amazing performance with a heartbreaking formulation, sadly.
And these lipsticks give such hard time to take them off the lips. Micellar waters or any water based removers cannot do the work. Even oil based makeup removers won’t completely get them off, unless tried super hard.
Here are the swatches of the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink lipsticks – From T-B are Believer, Lover and Creator.
Everything about these Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink lipsticks is so chic and so good, but why is the formulation so bad. Had it been better, these would have been the best affordable and drugstore matte lipsticks ever.
