This was one of the first affordable contour palettes which I had in my wishlist and it was way back though. I rarely contour for that perfectly chiseled face, although I do need it, but I’m way intrigued by few contour palettes. And L.A.Colors I Heart Makeup Contour Palette is one of them. This palette is one of the best sellers in the market, and also is said to be a dupe for the NYX contour palette. And finally, this palette is in India now, and I thought it’s time to get it. Here it is, the L.A.Colors I Heart Makeup Contour Palette in Medium to Deep version, and in this post I’ll be talking about this palette. And lol maybe I’d be the last person to review this palette, because this palette was such a hit then and of-course now also.

I picked the Medium to Deep palette.
Packaging, the L.A.Colors I Heart Makeup Contour Palette comes in a sturdy plastic case with a transparent top so we’ve a look at the shades inside. Back of the palette, we’ve all the description and little guide as “how to use the shades’. The palette consists of 8 contour and highlighting shades along with a highlighter(surprisingly). Very simple and travel-friendly packaging, overall.
The powders are super finely milled and pressed tight. They are buttery smooth and blend like dream. All the shades have a great pigmentation. The powders blend out smoothly and do not look patchy on the skin at all. The reason I went with this Medium-Deep palette and not the Light-Medium palette is that the Light palette has way too light setting powders which I’d not use at all. Medium-Deep palette has shades which are close to my skin tone with different undertones, so atleast I could make use of them in daily looks as normal face powders. And the bronzing shades are just perfect for medium-deep skin toned girls.
The Medium to Deep palette has got 8 shades : 2 bronzing shades, 4 setting/face powders, hardly 1 contour shade and 1 highlighter shade. I mostly see all warm toned shades in here which would go well for bronzing the face. There’s only a single cool-toned shade, which looks like a cool toned from the pan but shows up as a bronzing shade when swatched. Also it is not that strong enough to be used as a contour. It would barely work on people with deeper skin tones. For my NC43-44 skin, I sometimes had to go in twice and build up the shade to get that deep contoured look.
The bronzing shades from the palette have a really warm tone to them. Especially one particular bronzer has got deep red tones to it, which might suit deep dark skin toned people. And I love the lighter shades, I use them to set my overall face. There’s one lightest pale yellow toned powder which I use to set/bake my under eyes. I touch this powder only when I heavily highlight my under eyes for any glam look. The powders would last long on my face. And finally the highlighter gives a soft, subtle glow to skin. It glides smoothly on top of the foundation or powders well, and doesn’t look patchy at all.
Overall, I’m good with this Medium-Deep palette. At least I could make use of most shades from this palette. If I’d opt for the Light-Medium palette, I’d end up using only the darker shades, as I really can’t imagine the pale shades go on my warm tan skin tone. But I love the fact that the light palette has better contour shade than the medium palette though.
I think this L.A.Colors I Heart Makeup Contour Palette in Medium-Deep variant especially should be named as a Bronzing palette instead for the overall warm toned shades in it. Being on the affordable side and the shades being so smooth and pigmented, you can definitely give this a try. Or else, you can pay more and get the NYX or MUR palettes. This is great for beginners who’s not sure in investing in high end brands. This palette is great for medium-deep skin tones, and if you want to make use of the whole palette completely, AND if you’re looking for a bronzing palette this might be your choice.
