I was only curious about the term ‘Serum Foundation’ which made me pick this LAKME ABSOLUTE ARGAN OIL SERUM FOUNDATION. And of course the infusion of Moroccan Argan Oil into a foundation and its high end packaging next. It’s rare to find these serum foundations in India and I guess Lakme is the first brand to introduce these Serum Foundations. I picked a shade from the 6 shades launched, and this is the only product that I wanted to try from the Absolute Argan Oil Collection. In this post let’s get to know how this foundation performed.
For centuries, Argan Oil from Morocco has been well known for its superior nourishing properties. This age-old miracle ingredient is considered to be so precious that it is also known as liquid gold. In the last decade, this secret ingredient became very popular in the international markets with the use of Argan Oil in salon rituals as well as hair and beauty products. Lakme Absolute brings you the miracle beauty ingredient Moroccan Argan Oil, now in a luxurious foundation called the Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Serum Foundation. Lakme introduces a revolutionary serum foundation that nourishes skin while giving it a dewy radiant look. A naturally radiant glow with medium coverage, this foundation simultaneously moisturises your skin. Available in 6 distinct shades to suit most Indian skin tones, the packing is premium, modern and with a dropper format. Its silky fluid texture blends easily into your skin and also has SPF 45 for protection against sun damage.

This is totally annoying, just half the quantity compared to any standard foundation quantity for such high rate. Why Lakme? And that clever trick of that empty clear plastic case packaging, only giving an illusion of full quantity.
AVAILABILITY : This LAKME ABSOLUTE ARGAN OIL SERUM FOUNDATION is available at all Lakme stores and local beauty supply stores, and on Nykaa, Amazon, Flipkart online.
SHADES : The foundation comes in 6 different shades –
- Ivory Cream
- Rose Silk
- Silk Golden
- Natural Light
- Honey Dew
- Natural Almond
I choose the shade – NATURAL ALMOND, the last shade from the collection which is close to my skin tone.
HOW TO USE :
- Pump a dollop onto your palm.
- With the applicator, apply small dots over your face and neck.
- Using your fingertips or a foundation brush, blend the product well into the skin to get a refreshed, dewy look.
Packaging, let’s take a moment and appreciate Lakme for this beautiful packaging. For the first time, I feel Lakme really put efforts in bringing a luxurious packaging. It comes with a outer black carton box, the regular Absolute range themed. And the foundation comes in a gold and clear dropper bottle. It doesn’t come with any kind of outer cap. Although the bottle is made of plastic, it doesn’t look like any cheap quality packaging. The gold is obviously making everything look luxurious, I know. The foundation has a dropper applicator, which I think is okay for having control of how many drops of foundation we need. Overall, a decent luxurious packaging which is convenient for travelling as well.
NATURAL ALMOND is the darkest shade in this Argan Oil Serum Foundation range. Really sad that Lakme just stops right at this almond shade and never goes a shade deeper for the melanin rich beauties out there. This shade has a mix of both golden and orange undertones, and suits NC43-44 skin tones. NC42 people might also like this shade, but NC45 skin tone people will find this lighter.
Talking about the actual product, the foundation has a liquidy consistency. It is quite runny when I pumped a few drops on the back of my hand. And it has a sweet vanilla kind of fragrance, which does fade out in a couple of minutes right after blending. Since it is a serum foundation, it does have a smooth texture and feels very comfortable on the skin. It is very easy to blend. As it has a runny consistency, I did not want to use my beauty blender and waste the product, coz I know the sponge would end up soaking a lot of product. So I straight up used my flat top kabuki brush to blend in the foundation and it was an easy job. The foundation blended very easily, and did not leave any streaks or patches anywhere.
I really don’t expect much from Lakme foundations, as they always disappoint me(especially the shade range) and I never care to invest in them. But this particular one did a pretty good job. The foundation gave a medium coverage, which can be build to a full coverage though, and also feels very light and comfortable on the skin. It doesn’t cover up all the blemishes and acne and spots, but such kind of medium light-weight coverage will be great for everyday use. And it gives a satin-matte finish, not a super dewy look nor a super matte look but somewhere in middle, which is okay for me. It definitely requires a powder to set, otherwise it is gonna transfer in hot and humid climates. It does not leave any dry patches on my dry cheek areas, guess the Argan Oil Serum does nourish and hydrates my skin well. This foundation does give a slight white cast for the SPF it contains. But the orange undertones in this Natural Almond shade doesn’t make me look like a ghost though. I usually don’t like foundations which have SPF in them, rather I’d use a sunscreen separately before my foundation. That being said, this foundation gives bad flash backs, so it is suggestible to better not on the flash while clicking selfies. I had this foundation on for a good 5-6 hour period and at the end of the day I did notice the foundation fade away a bit and also did break up a little at my smile lines and around my nose area. But still it is a decent wear time for a Lakme foundation.
Overall, if you’re looking for a comfortable and light weight foundation with a medium coverage for everyday wear purpose, then I’d recommend this Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Serum Foundation. And with a built-in SPF in it, it is not necessary to add an extra sunscreen step in your routine. It’d definitely suit all skin types. And I wish Lakme concentrate on deeper skin tones for the melanin rich beauties in India as well.
