This is my first product from By WishTrend ever and it’s my first time trying an Acid gel cleanser in my life too. So what’s that? But before all that, I really wanna thank Beautybarnindia for sending some ByWishtrend products across and spoiling me. I’m really into skincare so much these days and I think it is very important to take care of our skin equally as we do to our body/health overall. And Cleansing being the most essential and first step in the skincare, you definitely don’t wanna miss out this review.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN THE WISHTREND ACID-DUO 2% MILD GEL CLEANSER –
- Capryloyl Salicylic Acid (LHA) – A derivative of BHA, LHA works in a similar way to the famed acne fighting ingredient, Salicylic Acid. It lifts dead skin cells off the surface of the skin, which means your pores are less likely to become clogged and form new spots. It also helps promote cell turnover via targeted exfoliation. It also posses astringent properties, which makes skin to improve its clarity.
- Gluconolactone (PHA) – PHA’s are the next generation of Alpha hydroxy acids, AHA’s, and act as chemical exfoliants. They work to exfoliate the upper most layers of skin which results in a smoother, fresher and more refined look. Used over a period of time, they help to enhance hydration and encourage firmer, younger looking skin. They penetrate into the skin at a slower rate which is why they are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, causing almost no irritation.
If you think your skin cannot tolerate the most potent AHA’s and BHA’s, then you should opt for the less sensitive but similar LHA’s and PHA’s products.
Packaging, the Acid-Duo 2% Mild Gel Cleanser comes in a pretty pink bottle. The outer carton box has got all the details about the product on it. The bottle is quite translucent and has a pump dispenser for easy usage, and it also makes it travel-friendly.
The cleanser has a clear gel consistency which lathers up greatly and has a slight sticky texture to it. I’m glad that this cleanser is not filled with any artificial fragrances. One pump is actually more than enough to cleanse my face. I have been using this cleanser in my morning and night routines for nearly a month now, and I’m quite impressed by it. I pump out the cleanser onto my palm and dilute with water to lather up and then work it into my skin cleansing it. Even after a month of using it, I see I haven’t even finished 1/4th of it. So I assume this bottle will really last for a good 3-4 or even 5 months.
Post rinsing, all I see is a super ‘moisturized’ clean skin. My skin felt really hydrating and absolutely non-drying. There were no dry patches, which I’d kind of observe with some normal foam cleansers. And yes, it really did gently exfoliate the skin cleansing it as well- a 2 way job. As long as I used this cleanser I made sure I did not use any extra harsh exfoliators, so that I do not overly exfoliate my skin and damage it. I do not have any acne going on on my face as of now, so I cannot talk on that thing. This is my first time using acid cleansers, and I was really afraid to try them. But the 2% proportion of Capryloyl Salicylic Acid(LHA) and Gluconolactone(PHA) are being very mild on the skin. I haven’t really known that this cleanser does remove traces of makeup, but even before I try this I read few other people say it. And yes, this cleanser does remove light makeup to some extent, but it does not remove all that hard to remove waterproof makeup.
And I wanna share something weird/stupid I did just two days before, where I actually used this Wishtrend LHA, PHA cleanser and went ahead with The Ordinary AHA, BHA peeling solution as an exfoliator. And it was only the next day that I realized I went overboard with the acids, and ‘touch wood’ I haven’t had any kind of skin damage. It is just fine as normal till day. But it was around my mouth area when the skin stretches, and I experience a slight twitch kind of, which substantially resided in a day. Omg, what have I done though? Sensitive and Acne skin people, you gonna really be careful with such simple things, to not mix/use too many acids in a day, if you know what I’m talking about. If you’re using AHA, BHA then you could probably skip on the LHA, PHA containing products and vice versa. Acids are basically chemical exfoliators, and using them too much could only rip off your natural skin texture and cause damage. It is suggested to start minimally and slowly increase the potency as per your skin behavior.
Overall, the Wishtrend Acid-Duo 2% Mild Gel Cleanser is a 2-in1 product I must say. A mild and gentle cleanser, which not only cleanses but exfoliates the skin without drying it and maintaining skin’s pH balance of 5.5. Being a cleanser, it pretty much does the job of cleansing. I did not see any drastic changes in my blemishes or spots anywhere. It is great for acne-prone and sensitive skin people who cannot tolerate the most active AHA’s and BHA’s. I’m really impressed by this cleanser, and do recommend to people with acne and sensitive skin. Inspite of recommendation, please do your own research before you even go ahead with it.
