SUGAR ACE OF FACE FOUNDATION STICK |On Dusky skin |Review, Swatches

Sugar Cosmetics has recently extended its Ace Of Face Stick Foundation shade range, making it a family of over 22 shades now! Now this is what we Indians look forward to. And I guess Sugar did a fab job in covering all the skin tones, from the palest to the darker, and all undertones, cool, neutral to warm. I have 3 of the shades, which honestly aren’t any perfect match for my NC44 skin tone, I’ll always have to mix two shades to customize to my skin shade. But in near future I’ll try getting a perfect match for my tone. So, in this post I’ll be talking about the 3 shades I have with me.

Make dreamy skin a reality in one simple step with the SUGAR Ace Of Face Foundation Stick. Lightweight, creamy and beyond easy to blend, its long-wearing formula offers coverage that not just looks but also feels like second skin. This handy stick blurs away enlarged pores, fine lines, dark circles, blemishes and more… so there’s really no excuse left for you to flaunt anything less than picture-perfect skin. Get ready to make a permanent place in your makeup bag for this magic wonder and score sheer-to-full coverage without looking cakey every single time!

Initially, this foundation was launched in only 6 shades which were numbered 01, 02, 03 up to 06 but now they’ve changed the numbers (but not the names of the shades).

I have 3 of the shades, 45 CON PANNA & 55 AMERICANO, two of them which were given by Sugar team to review and 50 MOCHA shade which I bought myself. If you’re trying to get a shade for yourself, I’d suggest do some research on shades and swatches, because with so many shades available with different undertones you’ll definitely get confused. So if there’s a Sugar outlet in your city, do check for these at the counter and then only go for it, as you know these are no joke affordable, they’re quite pricey.

List of Ingredients : Iron Oxide Yellow (CI 77492), Phenyl Trimethicone, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Iron Oxide Red (CI 77491), Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Polyethylene, Ceresin, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Pentylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, VP/Hexadecene Copolymer, Iron Oxide Black (CI 77499), Ozokerite, Talc, Mica(CI 77019), Silica, Lauryl Peg/Ppg-18/18 Methicone, Microcrystalline Wax, Phenoxyethanol, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Aluminum Hydroxide, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Macadamia Seed Oil Polyglyceryl-6 Esters Behenate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Lauryl Laurate, Propanediol, Dimethicone, Isostearyl Alcohol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Methicone, BHT.

Packaging, now the outer carton box comes with the regular Sugar theme print on it with the product name, brand logo, shade name and a little about the price and shelf life, and also the ingredients mentioned on it. Inside is the foundation Stick which comes in a matte black retractable case. And at the other end we’ve the brush applicator, which surprisingly is of great quality and I every time legit use this brush for blending this foundation. The packaging and everything is very sturdy and the brush part also feels very good, and something not very cheap kind. Totally a great multipurpose foundation stick which is so much travel-friendly.

How to Apply : Designed to be applied on the go, cut short your routine and pop this in to your everyday handbag. Stripe it on your T-zone, underneath your eyes, your chin and follow up by blending it outward with the built-in brush. Apply directly from the stick onto your complexion and build coverage as needed. The luxurious brush-end is specially handy for buffing the product out and touching up uneven spots. Use it all over to even out your complexion or use it as a touch-up tool by applying a dab or two to problem areas.

The foundation has a super creamy, buttery smooth texture which is highly pigmented. It is quite comfortable on the skin and like okay-ish lightweight, when compared to the Kryolan TV Paint stick. True to the claims, a little goes a long way and I guess for me this stick will last forever. You can go from a subtle daily wearable coverage to a full-glam high coverage look. Let’s really be honest, this foundation gives 80-90% coverage in just one application, even though you have light blemishes and spots. You only need a second layer only if you’ve severe dark spots/hyper-pigmentation issues. I just prep my skin with a moisturizer and directly go with swiping on the stick, then use the brush applicator that comes with the foundation to buff into my skin. The brush is no less than any high-end kabuki brush, it’s so densely packed with super soft bristles which buffs the foundation effortlessly in to the skin. I sometimes go over with my beauty blender over the buffed foundation just to make sure everything is even and flawless.

I have the shades –

  • 45 CON PANNA – Medium beige shade with slight golden undertones. This would suit NC42 skin tones well. This shade is a little light for me, and I either use to mix with the darker shade or use a brightening concealer under my eyes.
  • 50 MOCHA – Medium Tan shade with orange tones. This would suit all NC45 and probably a shade above skin tones. I bought this when Sugar initially launched the stick foundations, coz way then this was the only shade which is meant for the medium deep skin tone people. It is way orangey on my skin, so ther’s no way I can use it alone, I had to mix with a lighter shade – the 45 Con Panna and apply it.
  • 55 AMERICANO – Medium Deep shade with neutral tones. This would suit NC44-45 skin tones with neutral undertones (someone like me). But I still feel this shade being a little dark on my skin, that’s totally okay with me. I can wear a slightly darker shade and look tanned than my skin tone, but I hate to go with lighter shades and look like a ghost.

With even more newer shades added to the fam, I think I should give the shades 48 and 52 a try and see, probably at the store.

The foundation settles to a velvety matte or a slightly luminous matte finish, which I absolutely love. For me personally I have to set the foundation with a powder, otherwise my oily skin makes a mess within hours. I think people with normal-dry skin and well prepped can wear this foundation alone. I prefer dusting a light layer of powder just to let the cream product set. This foundation does not feel cakey with one simple application, but if you’re going for a full coverage look then it’ll give that slightly cakey look. And glad that it does not leave any dry patches around my cheek area.

I wore this foundation for a full day, and omg this stayed on for a good 7-8 hours without me touching up in between. It did not crease that much, and it did not transfer or smudge at all which is what I love. It was towards the end of the day that I noticed the areas around my mouth and nose started to crease. And also I had to blot my oil on my T-zone in the middle of the day.

I’ve only wore the foundation in this pic, no concealer and no powder. But anyways after a while I had to powder my face. But I love that subtle dewy look it gives! Also on a daily basis, I do not contour, highlight or even apply a blush. It’ll be only a light layer of foundation-compact and I’m good to go anywhere.

Overall, greatly impressed by this Ace Of Face Foundation Stick and its amazing shade range. If you’re looking for an on-the-go good quality foundation, I’d definitely recommend this one. This for sure suits all skin types and with so many shades available, I’m sure everyone’s gonna find their shade.
