FACES CANADA WEIGHTLESS MATTE FINISH LIPSTICKS |Review, Swatches

Well, I’ll admit that it was Faces Canada’s lip crayons that I totally adored back then, and I dunno if any other brand had lip crayons (like the matte ones) two-three years back. Although they had very limited shades, they slowly started building up their game. If you haven’t checked that review, here it is – Faces Ultime Pro Matte Lip Crayons. And now after a long time, I think Faces is back again with another adorable launch, in fact a low-key launch I should say because hardly no one had a word that Faces launched them. And any new updates I always get through Nykaa, which happened to be like India’s Sephora! After a thorough research about the shades and the formula, I finally – finally ended up picking 4 shades from the Weightless Matte Finish Lipsticks. They also have the Creme Finish Lipsticks, which I wasn’t that much into, coz I love matte lippies. In this post, I’ll be talking about these lipsticks.

Okay, so without much blabbering, I thought I’ll change the way of reviewing products from now on. Lets keep it short and very precise and on-point review. I’ll talk about the main five-six points about them (which includes likes\dislikes and pro’s, con’s etc) and finish off. Let’s do this from now on, because I do have a lot of pending reviews.

Let’s get started.

PACKAGING – Comes in a very chic and cute matte black bullet with gold fonts of the brand name, and the shade name mentioned on a silver sticker at the bottom. Very similar to the MAC lipsticks packaging, I loved these more than MAC though. They do come with a matte gold outer cardboard box with all details about the lipstick.

INGREDIENTS – Castor Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Aluminium Hydroxide & Silica, Koelin 197, Phenyl  trimethicone, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Petrolatum, Octyl methoxycinnamate, Microcrystalline Wax, Cera alba, Performelene PL Polymer, Butyrospermum Parkii(Shea) Butter, Ozokerite wax, Candelilla wax, Ethylhexyl Olivate, Perfume, Almond oil, Jojoba oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, BHT, Propyl paraben. May Contains:  CI 77891,CI 77499,CI 77491,CI 45410,CI 15850:1,CI 45380:3,CI 19140,CI 15850 :2,CI 42090,CI 77492,Mica CI 77019 & Tin Oxide.

FORMULA & TEXTURE – These lipsticks have a matte finish. At least, the shades I picked are not creamy at all, they do have a slight waxy finish and they do tug a little to the lips while application. Its just like any typical matte lipstick application, not that troublesome though.

PIGMENTATION – They are super pigmented and give an intense color pay off in just one swipe. The lighter shades, however need two swipes to get that opacity if you have darker lips. The darker shades will leave a stain behind, which is kind of nice because that covers up the fading part to some extent.

SHADES – I picked 4 shades from the entire range, which are pretty much everyday wearable shades and which suit medium-deep skin tones more.

  • Pretty Sepia : Luscious soft brown shade. It is perfect for a day outing. It’s the perfect nude for my NC44 skin tone. Doesn’t wash me out fully, but its that neutral brown – MLBB lip shade.
  • Forsake Beauty : Beautiful deep brown shade with hints of red in it. Wear this vivacious shade for eye-catching looks. Its a beautiful nude shade for deeper skin tones though. Universally flattering on suits all skin tones.
  • Natural Earth : A terracotta shade. Add a subtle pop of color to your complexion with this universally flattering color.
  • Kissed Ruby : A fabulous maroon shade. Looks beautiful on all skin tones. You know you’re going to look amazing when you have this lip color on.

HOW IT PERFORMS ON ME – I think Faces makes some really great lip products. These lipsticks have become my recent addiction. I wear them almost every day now. You need a good lip prep before the lipstick application, as I said these do have a matte formula which makes the lips dry after some time of application. Yes, apply a thick moisturizing lip balm or any lip oil before applying these lipsticks. These are transfer-proof and smudge-proof to some extent, and they are not tacky at all. It feels light and comfortable on the lips though.

LONGEVITY – It lasts for a good 5 hours without any snacking/meals. If you’re wearing this lipstick for any lunch/dinner date, then it’s gonna fade away like any other normal lipstick from the centre. I feel touching up over the current lip situation is also good, since it doesn’t crumble or anything it’s not that messy to apply over the faded lipstick.

RECOMMENDATION – Definitely YES! These are like most affordable, great quality matte lipsticks out there in the market. I myself picked another 4 shades from the B1G1 sale and shall review them too in coming posts. Stay connected with me through my Instagram channel @shailaja_l for more updates.
