Knowing that CG hair care is meant for you and not having access to them in India is one of the disheartening thing quite some time back, but now I guess we do get good CG hair products and accessories. All thanks to some curl girls who are taking initiation in bring up CG products to India.Okay, why am I even talking about CG stuff when I’m not a curly girl? Well, although having wavy hair, I do follow some of the CG techniques that work great for me. Now, talking about the main topic, OGX has been in India for quite a while now but this particular Quenching Coconut Curls range would never be available when needed. I accidentally stumbled upon this entire Quenching Coconut Curls range(excluding the shampoo though) while window shopping at a local mall, and I immediately put them in my basket to check out. In this post, I’ll be talking about this entire range which I’ve used already.

Although I have wavy hair, I never really cared to use products meant for wavy/curly hair girls and kept using all random shampoo-conditioners out from the market. I recently switched to CG method and also switched my haircare to all products ‘curly/wavy’ things. This OGX Quenching Coconut Curls trio is one first thing that you’ll find very easily available in Indian market now, which is what I started with also. But in vain I couldn’t find the Conditioner from this range, so I had to pick the other alternative- the Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner.

OGX Quenching Coconut Curls Shampoo

Curls look better when theyโ€™re quenched. So treat your tresses to this nourishing and frizz-taming tropical blend, with coconut oil, sweet honey and citrus oil, for hair thatโ€™s as beautiful as it is bouncy.

INGREDIENTS : Water (Aqua), Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycol Distearate, PPG-2 Hydroxyethyl Coco/Isostearamide, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Honey, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Dimethicone, Amodimethicone, Polyquaternium-6, Polyquaternium-10, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Laureth-4, Laureth-23, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Methyl Gluceth-10, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trideceth-12, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, DMDM Hydantoin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Fragrance (Parfum).

The shampoo comes in a white colored wide plastic bottle with blue holo printed font on it, with a golden flip cap. It has a while pearl color and quite a heavenly tropical scent to it. The shampoo lathers easily and quickly removes all the dirt and grime from the scalp. Good thing, this shampoo does not dry out the hair. It makes the hair smooth and manageable. I continue it with my conditioning routine.

OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner

This exclusive blend of deeply nourishing goodness is infused with coconut milk, ultra-whipped egg white proteins and coconut oils. Your hair will have more strength and elasticity, and a hint of the tropics that will float with you all day.

INGREDIENTS : Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Glycerin, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Glycol Stearate, Glycol Distearate, Ceteareth-20, Isopropyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Citric Acid, Cyclopentasiloxane, Panthenol, Ovum (Egg Powder), Propylene Glycol, Tetrasodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance (Parfum).

The conditioner comes in a similar bottle as that of the shampoo; wide bottle with a flip cap. And the conditioner has a thick coconut cream consistency with a similar fragrance as that of the shampoo(does the entire coconut range have a similar fragrance?). This conditioner does have traces of Silicones which give it a slip and makes hair smooth and frizz-free after rinsing. This would obviously be my last step for my scanty frizzy wavy hair. Or sometimes I’d totally skip the conditioning part and straight away get to the Deep Conditioning.

OGX Quenching Coconut Curls – Curling Hair Butter

Lather on this versatile hair butter to boost your curlsโ€™ hydration. Leave it in for a moisturizing treatment or rinse it out for use as a deep conditioner.

INGREDIENTS : Water (Aqua), Cyclotetrasiloxane, Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Sorbitan Oleate, Honey, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Microcrystalline Wax (Cera Microcristallina), Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Polyquaternium-37, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Polysorbate 60, PPG-1 Trideceth-6, Stearic Acid, Propylene Glycol, DMDM Hydantoin, BHT, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance (Parfum).

The Hair Butter comes in a flat plastic tub with a screw lid, nothing extra. It’s got all the details about the product and the multi-use guide. The butter has a beautiful whipped cream consistency which spreads easily on to hair. I absolutely adore this hair butter, and I use this as my deep conditioner and leave-in. I only need a little if I’m using it as a leave-in because the oils in the butter do weigh down my hair and make it look like I need to wash my hair again. Working little by little, I rub the product in my palms and start to scrunch my hair with it which gives a nice definition to my waves.

Overall, if you’re just starting with a CG routine, I’d say it is a good start. Although these products contain traces of Silicones and Sulfates in them, this routine is not completely the best CG method. It’d be a great start or a switch from fully loaded chemical products to a slightly minimal usage. I, myself did start my journey to clean skincare and haircare this way!
