I’ve got 3 shades from the 10 available in India. OH SO PRETTY, OBVS and IN THE RED are the shades I choose. I really want Nyx India to launch the remaining two shades as well, as they’re the most wearable ones and probably the bestseller shades I guess.
Packaging, which is what attracts at first sight. The Super Cliquey Matte Lipsticks come in a click-pen format with a tear-drop lipstick bullet. The tear drop bullet makes the lipstick application so precise and clean at the edges and corners of the lips. The lipstick comes out of the bullet through the click-mechanism, we need to be clicking the pen a couple of times for the lipstick to come out. One major drawback of this mechanism is that once the product is out, it is impossible to retract it back. So keeping that in mind we need to click accordingly. And that’s the reason you’ll see that I only clicked up very little product out.
- Oh So Pretty – is a bright soft pink shade
- OBVS – is a mauvey plum shade
- In The Red – is a true bright red shade
The lipstick applies very smoothly, glides on like butter without any tugging. They have a creamy texture to them, which makes it feel very comfortable on lips and they set to a satin matte finish. And they’re greatly pigmented, I was stunned when I first swatched them on my hand – so buttery smooth application. These lipsticks are not transfer proof – they do get slightly transferred onto coffee mugs and glasses. And they do stay for a good 5-6 hours. I strictly suggest you guys to give your lips a thorough exfoliation and moisturization before going on with this lipstick, as they do enhance the lip cracks or dead skin on the lips.
The formula of the lighter shades don’t work well, even after a thorough prep – they go patchy on lips and are an absolute disaster. I really loved the light pinkey-nude shade, Oh So Pretty and expected it to be my go-to shade, but it ended in other way. I tried my best to make this shade work for me, but even after multiple attempts it just gives that same patchy look. I guess the ratio of the matte powder was more in this particular shade, which is why it leaves that powdery-crumbly-patchy look. But, thankfully, the darker shades are an absolutely stunning. They go va-va-voom in just one swipe – great pigmentation, great quality and very comfortable to wear. I love both of the shades, I see myself wearing the Obvs shade more often – it is such a beautiful muted plumy shade, good to go for normal day look. And In The Red shade would be perfect for party nights and festive looks or even any night looks. Frankly speaking, even these Obvs and In The Red shades have that (very) tad bit creamy crumbly patchiness to them, but they’re hardly noticeable. I generally blot that with a tissue and go over with a second coat of lipstick and its done.
Here are the swatches – (top-bottom) In The Red, OBVS, Oh So Pretty. All of them looking beautiful on hand swatch.
Here are lip swatches of In The Red and Obvs shades. I haven’t posted the swatch of Oh So Pretty as I mentioned it was no way working on my lips.
Overall, I do have mixed feelings for these NYX Super Cliquey Matte Lipsticks collection – I love the fact that they feel very comfortable on the lips without mking them overly dry, but at the same time I hate that the formula of the lighter shades is a total disaster. I’d definitely suggest you go for the medium shades like the pinks and reds which look stunning. Girls with dry lips, you better give these a skip.
Did you try these NYX Super Cliquey Matte Lipsticks?? Which is your favorite shade?? Lemme know your thoughts…..
