Feels like 2020 is really the year for all homegrown brands. And Instagram is the main platform(and reason) we get to connect with such amazing local brands and educate the consumers in all possible ways. Glamaroma is one such natural Indian beauty brand, whom I’ve known from a very long time and have had an opportunity to work with them a couple of times. If you aren’t following me on my Instagram (@shailaja_l), I have talked about some of their products which I have tried from them..(reviewing them soon). This post is about the newest skincare range; the Tea Tree Skin Refining variant which targets the acne-prone skin people mostly. If you are one of them, keep on reading..
A potent blend of skin repairing ingredients that help curb acne and help heal the skin at the same time! It is a mix of Tea Tree extract, Salicylic acid, Aloevera, Almond oil, Carrot seed oil, Ashwagandha extract, Licorice extract, etc that deeply repairs the skin while curbing acne causing bacteria and drying out active acne.
The combo consists of –
- Tea Tree Skin Refining Toner
- Tea Tree Skin Refining Cream

The combo is priced at INR 1198/- and you can buy it HERE. Use my code SHAILAJA5 to get a discount.
I am happy they made this combo very minimalistic, but still I was wondering ‘where is the cleanser though?’, because I know Glamaroma always introduces a whole set of full routine for every single launch. This is actually not a big deal, but still that one cleanser too would make a complete CTM routine.

Well, before even talking about the product, I was bit skeptical about the brand naming this as ‘Astringent Toner’, where technically Astringent and Toner are both different but somehow interlinking terminologies, you know. Astringents are more alcohol based and more higher in concentrations than the toners, while the Toners are very soothing and calming to the skin, maintaining skin’s natural pH balance. The main confusion arises with the Witch Hazel ingredient, where the whole world depicts/categorizes it as both an astringent and a toner. This is a whole new topic anyways, but here the brand uses plant-based Witch Hazel, which makes it a non-alcoholic ‘toner’.
The toner comes in a classic clear spray bottle with a double lid, ensuring safe and secureness. The outer cardboard box has got all the details about the product and the ingredients list etc,. The toner has a golden watery consistency with herbs fragrance. The spray mechanism is however good but mind you, do not spray it directly on the face. once in contact with the eyes, this toner stings the eyes badly. I use this as my day toner along with the moisturizer, and I use only my hands to apply it. I spritz two-three pumps of the toner on my palm, and then apply it on my face avoiding the eye area. It quickly absorbs into the skin and feels absolutely non-sticky and non-oily. The Green Tea and Aloe Vera are definitely so soothing on the skin, while the Tea tree, Neem and Tulsi do their anti-inflammatory, acne reduction job fairly. Me, with my combination skin and having no skin issues, used it and this toner worked good as a soothing toning step in my routine. It did not break me up, thankfully. My sister, with oily skin and having acne issues, also tried this toner and it did reduce the inflammations to some extent and her acne also did reduced a bit. The ingredients definitely helped in calming and repairing the acne and inflammations, keeping the skin’s pH in balance. This is a perfect blend of potent ingredients a toner should have, for acne skin people. Great for oily-combination skin people. I’m sure it’s good for dry skin people too, who aren’t skin allergic to any of these ingredients. And I would say this is a no for sensitive skin people, the ingredients might be a bit irritant to your skin.
PRO’S :
- Travel-friendly, safe and secure double cap packaging.
- Very affordable.
- Suits oily, combination and acne skin.
- Balances skin’s natural pH.
- Non-drying and non-oily toner.
- Helps reduce acne inflammations and soothes skin.
- Cruelty-free & Vegan
CON’S :
- Any contact with the eyes, it stings.
- Not really a con though, but the toner contains Vitamin C; I wish they mentioned what percentage and what form of Vitamin C is being used in here.

The Skin Refining cream comes in a plastic pump dispenser bottle. Classic and travel-friendly. The outer box did have all the details about the cream on it. The pump bottle is quite sturdy and secure. As the product itself says, this is a cream (not-so thick enough though), white colored and having a tea tree kind of fragrance. This cream is infused with goodness of Tea Tree, Aloe Vera extract and Salicylic Acid, which are great for acne controlling and repairing. Salicylic acid is a natural BHA which exfoliates the skin to shed dead skin cells off and reduce skin inflammations and redness. But I am only sad that this Salicylic acid is somewhere in the middle to almost last set of ingredients rather than being in the first five. It also contains Vegetable Squalene, Olive Oil and Glycerin which are great humectants to the skin. This cream is best suggested to people with oily skin and normal acne issues. Do not use it on cystic acne or fresh wounds; the actives might cause skin irritations. Well, I used this cream in my morning and night routine as a moisturizer, and I felt it being heavy on my skin. It made me sweat a bit for no reason, so I couldn’t use for not more than two weeks. I passed it on to my sister who had acne. It worked on her though. It calmed her skin inflammation, and gave her skin enough hydration needed. I did not see any overnight results; not with me, not with my sister too. This is basically a normal cosmetic cream and not any medication, so you cannot expect it show miracles. Slow and consistent use will get results though.
PRO’S :
- Travel-friendly, safe and secure pump bottle packaging.
- Suits oily, combination and acne skin.
- Helps reduce acne inflammations and hydrates skin.
- Non greasy, and quickly absorbing.
- Dries out acne.
- Cruelty-free & Vegan
CON’S :
- Some might face skin sweating issues. (I did)
Also, both of the toner and the cream have essential oils as fragrances. So if you’re allergic to EO’s then you should probably stay away from these..or at least do a patch test before trying them out.

Overall, I’d say this combo is good/great for acne and oily skin according to how well your skin takes in the ingredients and give out the desired results. No skincare is a miracle, it definitely takes time to show up what it claims. Consistency is the key! For me, I’d honestly say it didn’t do anything because obviously I was not a acne person..but for my sister it did work well. Obviously different skins react differently to different skincare products.
